This month, the BMOT Foundation has quietly stepped in to bridge the gap, proving that often it’s the small, thoughtful acts that carry the biggest impact.
Here’s what we’ve been up to so far in July:
🛠️ When a young lady’s wheelchair brakes failed and delays in NHS contract changes left her without a safe option, we covered the cost of a hired wheelchair. This meant she could continue to self-transfer safely, protecting both her independence and dignity. Otherwise she would have frustratingly gone back to needing assistance of 1 to manage something she should be able to be independent in! The hire cost was also donated to charity!
🩴 We bought a pair of non-slip Crocs for a client needing safer shower transfers – a simple piece of equipment that reduced risk and restored confidence. Then she made them her own with charms!
🌱 We funded a greenhouse for a brain injury rehab unit, giving residents a chance to grow their own vegetables – and their self-esteem. A space to connect, reflect, and re-learn everyday purpose.
We know that systems don’t always move fast enough and this can cause so much frustration. When delays put rehab at risk or compromise safety, a simple, human response can make all the difference. Paul Maddox worked so hard for the charity and the well being of the people we support! He gets the gold 🌟 this month!
