Introducing the BMOT Foundation
Shortly after establishing BMOT, it became apparent that although essential care needs are (usually) provided, we discovered that it was very rare that desirable care needs were even considered. We couldn’t stand back and accept this, so a few weeks after establishing BMOT, we then set up the BMOT Foundation a few weeks later and are proud to announce that this is now up and running!

Created by Beverley and Paul the BMOT Foundation Trust is a charity which can provide meaningful grants to individuals who need a little extra support, to engage in the important occupations in their life (activities and roles). This could be potentially some equipment, some help to finance memberships etc. It can be used when formal funding just isn’t there or is not quick enough to meet need.
The foundation is overseen by three trustees to ensure everything runs smoothly and responsibly. Paul is one of the trustees and he brings a wealth of experience in managing charities, so we know we’re in safe hands. In fact he helps so much and we are very grateful that he has chosen to help BMOT so much! Louise is another of the trustees with invaluable experiences from the world of nursing and case management – a rare mix which we are so luck to benefit from – although neither of these are as prominent as her unwavering passion for helping others, a perfect mix for the BMOT Foundation Charity.
Over the years, Beverley has raised money through charity events, sponsored activities, and community evenings – and it felt only right that this energy for giving back became a part of the business. The charities that have benefited over the years include Cancer Research, Breast Cancer Care, MIND, FND Support and many, many more.
We look forward to providing regular updates on our fundraising efforts and how these funds benefit our beneficiaries.
Also, please consider The BMOT Foundation if you would like to donate, complete a sponsored event, host a coffee morning, etc etc…. we’ll be sharing more about our work and how you can get involved. The more the merrier!

April 26 Trip to London!
Supporting a child with cerebral palsy and her mum on a trip to London recently was a powerful reminder of what “everyday life” really looks like for so many families.
What might seem like a simple day out and an evening away takes planning, energy, resilience… and then even more on top. From transport and accessibility, to navigating environments that aren’t always designed with everyone in mind — everything takes longer, and everything takes effort. The preparation alone is exhausting.

Having previously worked as a support worker before becoming an OT, I’ve always felt like I understood, but this trip really reinforced something for me: every student, and every professional in the Health and Social Care field, should spend time truly alongside families in this way. Not just observing, but experiencing it. It keeps you grounded, it builds empathy, and it shapes better, more meaningful practice. How can we truly advise without actually doing it?
We’re also always on the lookout for people who want to offer their time and support. You don’t need anything fancy, just a little time, a lot of ❤️ , and a genuine passion to make things better.
I feel incredibly lucky to be part of The BMOT Foundation that creates these opportunities and supports families to access experiences they absolutely deserve.
And there were lots of laughs too! Watch out for Amelia, she will be telling us how it’s done in a few years!
